#PeopleOfPrecise: Meet Eric Wood

At Precise, our greatest strength is our people. Every mission supported, every solution delivered, and every challenge overcome is made possible by professionals who bring expertise, dedication, and purpose to their work.
This month, we’re proud to spotlight Eric Wood, whose work in configuration management helps support the systems and equipment installed on Navy submarines.
Supporting the Mission Through Configuration Management
Configuration management may not be a term everyone encounters every day, but Eric has a simple way of explaining what he does.
Think about a car.
Two vehicles can be the same model and model year but have different trim levels. Those configurations can change the equipment, features, and capabilities of the vehicle. Knowing exactly which configuration is associated with which vehicle is critical when it comes to maintenance, repairs, and understanding what the vehicle can do.
Eric applies that same principle to the systems and equipment installed on Navy submarines.
His work helps provide the information needed to understand those configurations — an important piece of supporting maintenance, repairs, capabilities, and the fleet.
A Culture Built Around People
For Eric, the Precise culture stands out because it treats employees as people first.
“A company where you are treated like a person with a name and not just an employee with a number.”
It’s a sentiment Eric experienced firsthand when he was considering returning to Precise.
During conversations about available positions, Eric learned that one opportunity could potentially have resulted in him working for a different company because of the way government contracting arrangements can work.
Even with that possibility, Precise helped him navigate the opportunity.
That experience showed Eric what it truly means to put people first — and it continues to motivate him today.
Putting People First. Delighting the Customer.
Eric believes the best way to honor that culture is to bring the same mindset to his work.
For him, that means approaching customers and teammates with a positive and professional attitude while always striving to do his best work.
It’s a straightforward philosophy, but one that reflects the heart of the Precise culture: when we put people first, we create better experiences and better outcomes.
Remember the Bigger Picture
Eric’s advice to new employees is one that applies no matter your role:
When you get bogged down in the weeds, zoom out.
It’s easy to become focused on the immediate task in front of you. But taking a moment to step back can help reconnect that work to its larger purpose.
“Our work directly impacts the people out in the fleet away from their families and friends keeping us safe.”
For Eric, that perspective helps keep the mission front and center.
A Passion for Music
Outside of work, Eric has another area where attention to detail and creativity come together: music.

He writes, records, and produces music and plays drums in a band. If he could instantly become an expert in any skill outside of work, he’d choose music theory.
Why?
Because a deeper understanding of music theory would make all of his musical endeavors easier.
It’s another glimpse into the person behind the role — someone who enjoys learning, creating, and continually building his skills.
Celebrating Our People
Eric’s work may focus on configurations and technical details, but his perspective never loses sight of the people behind the mission.
His commitment to doing quality work, supporting customers, and remembering the bigger picture embodies what it means to Put People First and Delight the Customer.
We’re grateful for everything Eric brings to the Precise team and the mission we support.
Thank you, Eric, for all you do to support our customers, our fleet, and the people who serve.
