#PeopleOfPrecise: Meet Lisa Kuno

At Precise Systems, our people are at the heart of every mission we support. Behind complex operations and international partnerships are professionals who bring organization, collaboration, and a commitment to getting the job done.

This month, we’re proud to spotlight Lisa Kuno, an FMS Program Analyst supporting our Australia team.

Lisa helps keep the team aligned by coordinating communications, tracking priorities, and working across supporting organizations. Her role is an important part of the collaboration that helps international partners work toward shared defense objectives.

Keeping International Operations on Track

A typical day for Lisa starts with reviewing overnight communications from international stakeholders and supporting teams. She connects with the Program Case Manager, assesses action items, and helps establish priorities for the work ahead.

Her responsibilities span recurring risk and schedule meetings, monthly FMS team discussions, and correspondence coordination with the Foreign Disclosure Officer for information intended for Australia’s partner team.

Lisa also supports team travel by coordinating arrangements, submitting visit requests and country clearances, and working with logistics and other supporting organizations. She maintains case-tracking databases, reviews meeting briefs, and helps prepare the team’s priorities for the next day.

Each responsibility contributes to the broader effort to keep information organized, communication moving, and the team prepared to meet its commitments.

Collaboration With a Shared Purpose

One of the most rewarding aspects of Lisa’s work is being part of the collaboration between government, industry, and international partners.

“The Tomahawk program is at the forefront of modern defense cooperation, and it is incredibly exciting to be part of it,” Lisa says.

She enjoys seeing the coordination required to align government, industry, and international policy to deliver what partner nations need. While differences in policy can sometimes create challenges, Lisa recognizes that the people involved are working toward a common goal.

“Everyone is working hard to achieve one goal.”

That shared commitment is a defining part of Foreign Military Sales and an important reason Lisa finds the work so meaningful.

Teamwork Through Unique Challenges

FMS operations can involve challenges that require careful planning, coordination, and attention to security requirements.

During a recent shipboard installation in Australia, restrictions surrounding U.S.-only equipment and classified information required U.S. personnel to maintain continuous, 24-hour security watches over sensitive assets.

The round-the-clock responsibility presented a significant operational undertaking. Through close teamwork between U.S. and Australian personnel, however, the team maintained strict security compliance and completed a successful installation.

The experience demonstrates the importance of collaboration when working through complex operational requirements. By coordinating closely and remaining focused on the task at hand, the team was able to meet its responsibilities and accomplish its objective.

A Bucket-List Trip to Sydney

Lisa’s work has also provided an opportunity to explore Australia — a destination she had long hoped to visit.

She spent two weeks in Sydney supporting the team during its security watches aboard an Australian ship. The team worked rotating shifts, but a couple of days off gave Lisa the chance to experience more of the country.

She took a train to the Blue Mountains to enjoy the spectacular views and visited a local zoo, where she got up close with koalas and kangaroos.

For Lisa, the trip was a chance to combine meaningful work with a personal adventure. Visiting Australia had been on her bucket list, and her role with Precise helped make that experience possible.

It’s a memorable reminder that supporting a global mission can also create opportunities to experience new places and cultures.

A Family Adventure Back to Antarctica and New Zealand

When Lisa isn’t supporting the mission, travel remains a favorite interest for her and her family.

If she could plan a dream vacation without budget or time constraints, she would return to Antarctica and New Zealand with her husband and their two daughters.

Lisa previously served at McMurdo Station with the U.S. Navy. Although the deployment was life-changing, intense work schedules left little time to explore the surrounding destinations. It was also where she met her husband, making the experience especially meaningful.

Returning together as a family would give them the opportunity to revisit that chapter of their lives while discovering places they missed the first time around.

Her ideal itinerary would begin with a cruise through the Drake Passage, navigating past icebergs and penguin rookeries by small Zodiac boat. Afterward, the family would spend time exploring New Zealand’s North and South Islands, taking in the breathtaking landscapes that Lisa has long wanted to experience more fully.

For Lisa, the trip would be about adventure, family, and making new memories in places that already hold a special meaning.

Celebrating the People Behind the Mission

Lisa’s role as a Program Analyst helps support the coordination and collaboration behind international defense cooperation. From tracking action items and managing communications to supporting operations alongside international partners, she contributes to the many details that help a complex mission move forward.

Her story also highlights the experiences beyond the workplace that make each member of our team unique — from checking a destination off a bucket list to dreaming about a family adventure that connects the past with the future.

That’s what #PeopleOfPrecise is all about: recognizing the people behind the mission and celebrating the expertise, commitment, and personal experiences they bring to their work every day.

We’re proud to have Lisa on the Precise team and look forward to seeing where her work and adventures take her next.
