#PeopleOfPrecise: Meet Bobby Owens
Meet Bobby Owens – Indiana Team Lead and Precise Systems’ Employee Spotlight for April 2024.
Bobby is the Team Lead for our MEW IAC MAC contract based out of our Odon, IN office. As Team Lead, he is directly responsible for ensuring operational parts are delivered to our nation’s defenders in an expedited manner and getting nonfunctional parts refurbished by the vendors. This is his favorite part about his role, as he plays an important part in impacting sailors’ readiness and ability to protect our nation.
This type of impact was not something Bobby felt until he joined the Precise Team. He explains, “Joining Precise has given me a completely different outlook on how I can effectively impact the daily lives and well-being of those who are protecting our country and the freedoms we have.” Having this perspective gives him a lot of pride in his work and the product he delivers each day.
He also follows the advice of Ret. Army Colonel Mike Garlington, who has had an inspiring and lasting impression on his life. Bobby says that some of the best advice Colonel Garlington gave him is to not concern yourself with the events you cannot control. Focus your efforts on the things that are within your control – your life, your family, and your work. Let the rest fall into place. Bobby understands that you can only bring your best into the job, and not everything will go exactly as expected. His Team knows that Bobby’s best results in an incredible work ethic and he makes everything better because of it!
Outside of the office, Bobby is a big fan of the film, Remember the Titans, especially Denzel Washington’s character, Coach Hermon Boone. In the movie, Coach Boone took control of a very troubling time of a team’s existence and was able to conquer one of their biggest hurdles. His leadership is something that Bobby identifies with strongly, and if he was given the choice to play a character in any movie of his choosing, Coach Boone would be it!
We are extremely appreciative of Bobby’s hard work, determined demeanor, and impressive leadership abilities. His MEW IAC MAC Team, and the greater Precise Team, are better because of it. Thank you, Bobby, for the inspiration and indelible mark you have left on our company!
#PeopleOfPrecise: Meet Kristi Cornett
Meet Kristi Cornett – Computer Systems Analyst, Software Developer, and Precise Systems’ Employee Spotlight for March 2024.
Kristi has been part of our Precise Team since October 2023. When she joined our organization, software development was a new career path for her, but one that she was incredibly excited to learn. She previously worked in social media management, daily interacting with the constantly changing features and algorithms of different social media platforms. Kristi found these changes to be fascinating and was interested to know the “why” behind each new update. Her never-ending curiosity and pursuit of these answers led her to software development.
When she knew she wanted to make a career change, Kristi knew that it was important to find a company that would support her growth. She knew Precise would be the perfect fit, saying, “Collaboration has been such a monumental experience for me. The Precise Team helps one another, and it is focused on lifting one another up and putting out an excellent product for our customers.”
She found her home at Precise on the NAVAIR AMS Team. Kristi describes the AMS product as a suite of business applications that help put requirements on contract and on time, meaning our warfighters get the help they need when they need it to stay safe and do their jobs effectively. Since the start of her career with Precise, she has felt valued as a member of the Team. Her co-workers have given her the chance to find her own way, while also supporting her through each step of the problem-solving process. Kristi’s growth as a developer and teammate can be directly attributed to the collaborative ideal felt throughout her team.
Kristi does not just focus on her professional development, however. A personal goal of hers is to become an endurance athlete! She would love the chance to complete a marathon, and she has already run a half-marathon in preparation for achieving this larger goal. She has entered several marathon lotteries and is excited for the day that she is finally given the chance to complete this goal.
Part of the reason she is inspired to keep going comes from Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech – one historical event she would love to be part of. Kristi is encouraged by his relentless hope and belief to never allow your inner flame to be extinguished, even in the darkest of times.
We are incredibly lucky to have such a hard-working and driven individual as part of our Precise Team. Kristi, we are honored to be part of your career journey and we are excited to see the growth ahead of you!
#PeopleOfPrecise: Meet Christine Wang
Meet Christine Wang – Precise Internship Program alum, Computer Systems Analyst – Junior, and Precise Systems’ Employee Spotlight for March 2024.
Christine joined our Team in the summer of 2022 through the Precise Internship Program as she was coming toward the end of her undergraduate studies. Although cybersecurity had been her dream career since high school, she found that the topics she studied in her data science classes were much more intriguing. Her internship with the Precise NAVAIR AMS team helped her realize that her true passion was data analysis. Christine was given many projects that allowed her to create stories only data could tell and impact the Precise mission at large.
When asked about her internship experience, she says, “I personally liked the amount of creative freedom I was given, and the whole process of figuring out what story I wanted the dashboard to tell. After the internship, it just felt right for me to continue pursuing a career in data analysis, and I’m glad I was able to use the knowledge I had gained over time in a hands-on way.”
Upon finishing her degree, Christine officially joined the NAVAIR AMS Team as a Data Analyst and now gets to use her creativity, passion, and expertise each day. She also loves her Team members and knows that if she ever needs help, there are people there for her! This was one of the biggest takeaways from her internship, and the best piece of advice she could offer to anyone thinking of applying for our summer internship program. “Be open to learning new things during the internship and don’t be afraid to ask around”, says Christine. “People on the team are very familiar with the things you’re encountering for the first time and are always willing to help.”
When she is not working with data, Christine loves to spend time watching movies and studying art! She considers herself to be a “cool, adventurous, but reserved film buff”. Her favorite pieces of art come from the French Impressionism movement, where she finds the usage of colors and everyday, casual subject matters to be the defining features of that time. She would love to meet artists such as Manet, Renoir, or Monet, and learn the techniques and motivations behind their paintings. This passion for art is complemented well by the work she does with AMS data – Christine loves to find the creative side of life and discover the hidden stories to be told!
We are so grateful to be the stepping stone of Christine’s professional journey and are excited to see the impact she will continue to have on our mission. Thank you, Christine, for the passion you bring to our Precise Team!
If you or anyone you know is interested in applying for our Precise Summer Internship Program, please apply on our website today! Applications close on March 22nd, 2024. Find all the details for the program and application here.
#PeopleOfPrecise: Meet Annie Davenport
Meet Annie Davenport – AMS team lead, military spouse, and Precise Systems’ Employee Spotlight for December 2023.
Annie joined our Precise Team over three years ago when she and her husband received orders from the Marine Corps to relocate to NAS Patuxent River. She found Precise through a job fair she attended and immediately knew she had found somewhere unique. In the past, Annie had been told to hide the fact that she was a military spouse since she would often get questioned about how long she would be in one place or the type of experience she could bring to a job.
Once she started talking to the recruiter and learned about our proud relationship with the Military Spouse Employment Partnership, Annie knew she had found a company that not only accepted the fact that she was a spouse but embraced it and was actually excited about all the unique skills that she had from holding an array of jobs and working with diverse groups of people. She finally felt valued as a military spouse, which led her to accept a job with Precise.
Annie supports our Acquisition Management System (AMS) team out of our Maryland office. AMS is a software application that supports multiple DoD SYSCOMs in their acquisition process. This includes market research, financial planning, tracking schedules, and managing document workflows and deliverables.
As a team lead, she is responsible for overseeing the support provided to users of the AMS product. Annie and her team deliver both formal and informal training, troubleshoot any technical issues, and monitor an open line of communication between themselves and AMS users. She also oversees a team of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) that helps AMS users manage their portfolios so they can stay on schedule and meet their financial benchmarks.
For Annie, one of the most rewarding aspects of being part of the AMS team is knowing that every day, she works with people who not only want the best for themselves but for everyone around them. They are all high-achieving, highly supportive people who do not leave anyone else behind. Speaking about the team, Annie says, “It is really comforting to know that when I am putting my all into a task, everyone else on the team is also doing their best work. There are no slackers on the AMS team. While the team is always striving to do better, they are also very quick to help each other out. Everyone at AMS wants to see each other succeed.”
Being on this team reminds Annie of her husband, Tyler, who is one of the most inspiring people she knows. Each day, Tyler strives to be the best Marine, pilot, friend, husband, and father to their two daughters. This doesn’t just stop with himself, though. It is his goal to make everyone around him the best versions of themselves, as well. Annie has seen Tyler mentor young Marine pilots, show up for his people when they need him, and above all, put his family first. Annie can rest assured, knowing that her husband will always be there for her and their daughters, and be their biggest cheerleader in anything they do.
As a team lead, spouse, and mother, life can get pretty busy for Annie! When asked what her ideal superpower would be, she says, “Some days I wish I could multiply myself. Then, I actually could be everywhere all the time.”
We are incredibly grateful to have Annie as part of our Precise Team, not only because of the valuable work she does with the AMS product and supporting our users but also because of her service to our nation as a military spouse. We salute you and we thank you, Annie!
If you are interested in learning more about AMS or are currently looking for career opportunities with the AMS team, please apply here!
Precise Receives Record-Breaking Donations for Toys for Tots 2023
LEXINGTON PARK, MD, December 22, 2023 – The Precise Systems Charitable Contributions Committee is proud to announce they received over 600 toy donations from multiple office locations around the country and from their remote workforce. These donations included bikes, board games, stuffed animals, dolls, Legos, books, balls, arts and crafts, toy cars, and stocking stuffers.
Precise has been partnering with Toys for Tots each holiday season for over five years now, and each year, employees have gone above and beyond to show their support of the Precise Charitable mission to #GiveWhereYouLive. This year, however, the company received more donations than ever. With three office locations, as well as a plethora of remote employees all over the nation, Precise collected over 600 toys that they were able to donate to local Toys for Tots chapters in three different states.
Scott Pfister, Precise Systems Chief Executive Officer and President, has a special connection to Toys for Tots. As a retired Marine, Scott is passionate about supporting Marine organizations and instills the value of #GiveWhereYouLive in every Precise employee. Scott crafted a creative challenge to increase participation in this year’s toy drive at Precise, encouraging the leadership to ramp up participation with some friendly competition. Precise Systems Senior Vice President, Greg ‘Curly’ Anderson took first place for most toys collected within a business area, and his efforts were celebrated at the Precise Holiday Employee Recognition event. The Precise team gathered to sort, count, and load toys onto the trailer to be taken to one of the local Toys for Tots chapters in Lexington Park, MD.
This is the company’s final charitable initiative for 2023, and it proved to be one of the most successful campaigns in Precise history. Through the presence, generosity, and good cheer of their employees, coupled with the company’s dedication to our nation, Precise is honored to bring joy to the holiday season and provide a tangible sign of hope to America’s less fortunate children.
About Marine Toys for Tots
The mission of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is to assist the U. S. Marine Corps in providing a tangible sign of hope to economically disadvantaged children at Christmas. This assistance includes providing day-to-day leadership and oversight of the Program, raising funds to provide toys to supplement the collections of local Toys for Tots Campaigns, to provide promotional and support material and defray the costs of conducting annual Toys for Tots Campaigns. Other Foundation support includes providing administrative, advisory, financial, logistic and promotional support to local Toys for Tots Coordinators; managing funds raised and monies donated based on the use of Toys for Tots name or logo; providing other support the Marine Corps, as a federal agency, cannot provide; and conducting public education and information programs about Toys for Tots that call the general public to action in support of this patriotic community action program.

#PeopleOfPrecise: Meet Jason Morris
Meet Jason Morris – CMCD Engineering Lead for PMA-209, LAUNCH Ambassador, and Precise Systems’ Employee Spotlight for October 2023.
Jason has been an integral part of our Precise Team since 2016. As a Senior Principal Engineer with our NAVAIR PMA-209 customer, he supports the Common Mission Computing and Displays (CMCD) Team.
Among many noteworthy contributions and accolades, Jason recently participated in a panel for the inaugural MOSA Industry & Government Summit & Expo as a Subject Matter Expert, highlighting the work of bringing flexibility and interoperability to Naval Aircraft using Open Standards. When we asked Jason what participating on the panel meant, he said, “Sitting on the panel was an honor to be among a group to talk about the challenges of implementing Open Standards. The interest and discussion that took place was amazing, especially with it being the first MOSA Summit.”
Jason is also a contributing founder of the Engineering Focus under the company’s LAUNCH Program, the Precise Systems’ Center of Excellence.
Jason, along with his colleagues, is putting the foundations of the Engineering Focus of LAUNCH that will provide thought leadership, establish and promote best practices, support research and development within the focus, support education and professional growth across the organization, further developing and innovating the Precise Systems Advanced Engineering capability.
While he has seen incredible success in his Engineering career, Jason did not always have his sights set on this particular path. His original goal was to major in Criminal Justice and become a detective. Still, his hopes for a Navy ROTC Scholarship led him to pursue a degree in Electrical Computer Engineering. After being part of the Nuclear Navy, he realized that his interest in Engineering was increasing, and his desire to be a detective had fallen to the wayside. This interest led him to further his Engineering expertise with a Master of Science in Engineering Management from Old Dominion University in 2005 and another Masters in Systems Engineering from George Washington University in 2014.
Outside of the office, Jason loves to travel! Aside from Hawaii and Alaska, he has visited every state in the U.S. However, visiting those last two states is #1 on his bucket list. He would also love to take a trip to Ireland and vacation on a cruise!
Precise is so grateful to have Jason on the Team. His hard work and dedication to the company, the LAUNCH program’s success, and his contributions to innovating engineering to support the warfighter are unparalleled.

More about Inc. and the Inc. 5000
Methodology
Companies on the 2021 Inc. 5000 are ranked according to percentage revenue growth from 2017 to 2020. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2017. They must be U.S.-based, privately held, for-profit, and independent—not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies—as of December 31, 2020. (Since then, some on the list may have gone public or been acquired.) The minimum revenue required for 2017 is $100,000; the minimum for 2020 is $2 million. As always, Inc. reserves the right to decline applicants for subjective reasons. Growth rates used to determine company rankings were calculated to three decimal places. There was one tie on this year’s Inc. 5000. Companies on the Inc. 500 are featured in Inc.’s September issue. They represent the top tier of the Inc. 5000, which can be found at http://www.inc.com/inc5000.
