Meet Christa Zabelsky – Human Resources Specialist, Excet ambassador, and Precise Systems’ Employee Spotlight for February 2024.
In November 2023, we combined our capabilities in our first acquisition with Excet, a Springfield, VA company that specializes in a range of engineering and chemical/biological research and development. Through this acquisition, a number of talented professionals have joined our workforce. We have enjoyed getting to visit Excet sites and meet our new employees.
This month, we are spotlighting Christa Zabelsky, one of our newest Precise Human Resources Team members. Working in HR, for both Excet and now Precise, has provided her a unique opportunity to communicate with a variety of employees in different departments. Speaking of her HR experience, she says, “It feels good to be able to provide the level of support and assistance to employees that truly makes a difference to the individual.”
After seeing the truly outstanding capabilities and support employees provided to their customers, it was clear that Precise and Excet would make a perfect match. Christa saw this immediately, explaining that both companies have a tenacious dedication to their customers, as well as their employees. Everyone understands that there is no success without employees who take pride in their work. Happy employees are the first step in having delighted customers, and no one embraces that more than these two companies.
From day one, Christa felt at home and welcomed onto our Team. The culture was one of the biggest factors that aided in a successful transition for her, and she is very appreciative of everyone who has helped her along the way! When asked how she would personally describe the Precise-Excet culture, she says, “agile, professional, and dedicated.”
In Christa’s spare time, she is a fan of the big and small screens! If she could choose one actress to play her in a movie about her life, she would choose Sandra Bullock. “She is a strong actress and has played a variety of roles, so I think she would do justice to any character she plays”, says Christa.
She has also enjoyed watching Ted Lasso on Apple TV. She is inspired by the main character’s wonderful outlook on life and his great sense of humor. Christa brings that same joyful demeanor to every Teams call, office gathering, and email – we are so happy to have her as part of the Precise Team!
Precise Systems Announces Acquisition of Excet, Inc.
Enhances and expands Precise Systems’ capabilities for Army and Navy customers
LEXINGTON PARK, MD and MCLEAN, VA, NOV 21st, 2023 – Precise Systems, Inc., a portfolio company of Bluestone Investment Partners, is pleased to announce the acquisition of Excet, Inc. (Excet) in a transaction that closed Friday, November, 10, 2023.
Founded in 2005, Excet is a Springfield, Virginia-based provider of scientific research and engineering services to the Department of Defense. The company offers physical sciences research to the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy through multiple contract vehicles. Excet supports customers at the Naval Research Lab (NRL) in Washington DC, the Army Research Lab in Edgewood, MD, and the Naval Air Station in Key West, FL, among other locations. Excet has proven expertise in Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosives (CBRNE) threat assessment, biotechnology, chemistry, corrosion control, alternative energy, threat agent sciences, synthetic biology, and canine olfaction.
“The addition of Excet’s capabilities enhances our solutions-based service offerings to our customers,” said Scott Pfister, President and Chief Executive Officer of Precise Systems. “Since our partnership with Bluestone Investment Partners began in January 2023, one of our key strategic initiatives has been to find acquisition targets that complement and advance Precise’s capabilities principally in support of the Department of Defense. Excet is a perfect fit to do just that.”

Excet boasts over 100 employees of whom over 40 percent possess advanced degrees in engineering, chemistry, biology, and related disciplines. Excet’s team will be joining Precise Systems and continuing to execute physical sciences research. With the addition of Excet, Precise Systems now has over 1,000 employees supporting customers across the United States.
Bluestone Investment Partners completed its investment in Precise Systems in January of this year, commencing a partnership to help the company continue its rapid growth. Excet represents the first acquisition for Precise Systems since Bluestone invested.
